| Advices for students
These few useful advices have the aim of making easier the students learning methods, as regards organization, planning, understanding, lessons assimilation, daily homework, reviews, etc.
8 rules to follow for Learning how to Learn Better
1 - Organization
- Plan your Work
- Work regularly
- Note down the hours that you dedicate to each essay, with a pencil in a photocopy of the pages of your agenda, in order to finish your homework in time
2 - Daily homework
- Prepare the class subject previously
- Be attentive in class, follow the class
- Take clear readable notes
- Ask whenever you have a doubt or a misunderstanding
3 - After the class: Rigor and Discipline
- Reread the class of the day, correct the mistakes, underline the most important notions to remember
- Remake the exercises that you did not understand and make the practical
- Set index cards containing the essential of the class (They should be outlined as fast as possible after the class: cardboard, colored or not, numbered and classified ones)
- Review them often (useful for revisions)
- Work with a dictionary
4 - Assimilate lessons
- Clarify the concepts: you must understand the contents of the class
- Assimilate the program
- Read your notes and your index cards daily
5 - Plan your homework efficiently
- Prepare your weekly planning. Organize your time for working and hobbies
- Make good use of your holydays to review, make the cards behind, correct your gaps, go more deeply into your knowledge (make a working plan)
6 - Prepare well a test, an exam
- Lay down attainable targets (grades to get, concepts to know, exercises to make)
- Use the “Annales du Bac” and put yourself in the exam same conditions
- Sleep well, eat well and control your stress
7 - At the moment of an exam, a test or a question
- Be confident and resolute
- Read well the principle till you have assimilated it (twice at least)
- In the case of several subjects: choose the one that will provide more and faster points
- Organize your time according to the exercises
- Always begin by making the easiest exercises
- Never be overwhelmed by a question more than 5 minutes
- Take care of write your copy correctly
- Reread your copy before give in it
- If you still have a little time, note down the problematic questions in your rough copy
8 - Exercise your memory
- To those ones who have a visual memory, test yourself in writing to be sure you have memorize well
- Let a few days go by and try to explain and/or recite the lesson to somebody without a previous review
